At Cottingham and Hessle high school there is a 4 week charity trip running to Kenya. This is to support the children and help the lives of the struggling people out there. The trip costs a whopping £4585 with additional insurance, vaccinations, and spending money needed.

There are about 20 students going and each one has to fundraise every penny for themselves. Many students have done charity gigs, walks, mud runs, and other things to raise their money. The schools have also helped out doing raffles and tombolas at parents evenings and other various school events. This has raised not only money for the students but also money for the travel to and from the airport.

The trip consists of 2 weeks helping in camps, a week of animal conservation and a week scuba diving. They will teach the people out there many British ways of life and learn themselves how to live in a fantastic place like Kenya. They will do many activities/ workshops and lots of manual work to help out. The students will also teach the children many lessons in many different subjects.

As mentioned earlier, the students will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a 14 metre scuba diving course. This will last 7 days out of the 4 weeks and is able to be used anywhere after you have the qualification.

The students will have this to look back on for the rest of their lives. It will be a great thing for their CV’s, they won’t forget the memories and, it will have a great impact on the way they look at life in the future.
