Cottingham high school has its very own rock band ‘Andromeda’. At every concert, assembly, talent show, and outside school events; they are performing. They are known across the school and bright up the faces across every assembly.

The band consists of a lead singer, lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, drummer, and bassist. They’re all very talented individuals and good friends.

The band currently plays well known rock covers such as ‘Sweet child O’ mine’ by Guns n Roses and ‘Can’t stop’ by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. In the future they hope to write their own songs and that they’re as well known as some of the songs they already play.

In the past, they have played many gigs and competitions inside and outside of school and have done really well.

A rough patch occurred when their old singer left the band and it had left them in quite a struggle. The lead guitarists sister has since stepped up and is now the lead singer for the band. Since then, they have become more recognised and increased even more in popularity.

Their most recent gig was at a cafe in Little Weighton to help fundraise for the lead singers charity trip to Kenya, raising over £1000! The crowd really enjoyed and it was a great success in all areas.

Andromeda are next playing at Springfest in Cottingham on the 25th of May and Cott day on the 7th of July. They hope as many people can come along and support, see you there!
