A DANCING dad raised thousands of pounds for a children’s hospice in a glittering dance competition, but missed out on making the top three.
Ilkley’s Roger Fielding was kitted out in Fred Astaire-style menswear by business Eric Spencer ready for the Strictly Get Dancing contest, organised by Martin House Children’s Hospice on Saturday.
Although their elegant waltz and Argentine tango did not get Roger and his dancer partner, Elly Fiorentini, of York, in the final three, they were delighted to raise more than £3,000 for the charity.
He said: “It was really a wonderful event. Wouldn’t have missed it.”
Mr Fielding’s family have benefited from the care and support of Martin House. His eldest son, Oliver, died four years ago, just before his 13th birthday. Donations can be made at justgiving.com/Roger-Fielding.
