ILKLEY Film Society's first screening of the new year is the powerful and moving Testament Of Youth on Sunday, January 3 from 8pm at Ilkley Playhouse.
Based on the famous First World War memoir by Vera Brittain, the film surprisingly casts as Brittain the Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who received a BAFTA nomination for her performance. She is supported by a strong British cast including Kit Harington from Game Of Thrones, Emily Watson, Dominic West and Miranda Richardson.
After a successful TV career, director James Kent was making his first cinema feature, and the result is a film described by newspaper critics as “deeply satisfying” and “stunningly good.”
Guest tickets cost just £4 (£2 for students) and can be reserved by telephoning Dave Howell on 01943 430097. Further information on the current season is available online at www.ilkleyfilmsociety.org.uk
