Bradford four-piece Man Can’t Fly have defied their name and soared since forming in October last year.
The band, who describe themselves as an alternative/acoustic rock outfit, made their mark on the local music scene with the release of debut EP Don’t Waste My Time, with the title track championed by BBC Introducing and the likes of Sara Cox and Huw Stephens on Radio 1.
The single has been played several times on Radio 1’s daytime slots and now the band have been added to the line-ups of this year’s Bingley Music Live and the Reading and Leeds Festivals on the BBC Introducing stage.
Drawing influence from artists such as Counting Crows, Elbow, Mumford And Sons and Coldplay, Man Can’t Fly have gained a loyal following thanks to their lively delivery of songs that “fire up the heart and head with emotive sounds and memorable hooks”.
The band are Ben Wadsworth on vocals/piano/guitar; James Waterhouse on vocals/guitar; bassist Sam Connor and drummer Oliver Cottenham.
Their sound combines “singer-songwriter storytelling, intoxicating melodies and addictive choruses, fused together by three-piece harmonies and the fiery, full sound of a band that love and live for their music”.
A follow-up EP is planned, featuring what the band believe to be is “by far the best music we’ve written to date”.
Catch Man Can't Fly at Leeds Festival on Saturday, August 24.
