Talented singer/guitarist Nick Bold was born to perform...
When the Stars in Their Eyes winner isn’t appearing in the UK’s premier theatres and concert halls performing in stage show Magic of the Beatles, he spends his time busking in busy shopping centres.
“I’ve just always really enjoyed performing,” says Nick. “Whether it’s to crowds of more than a thousand on the Magic of the Beatles national tour, or a handful of shoppers on a Saturday morning in the high street.”
After the instant fame associated with performing My Sweet Lord as George Harrison on Stars in Their Eyes, Nick went on to become part of adult orientated rock band Virginia Wolf. The band signed a million-dollar, two-LP deal, their second album produced by Queen’s Roger Taylor.
“We supported Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page on a six-week tour of the States,” he says.
“It was an incredible time in my life – I got to stand at the side of the stage and enjoy watching the guitar hero of my childhood every night of the week.”
Few who see Nick busking can imagine the double life he leads.
Nick will be performing as George Harrison in The Magic of the Beatles at the King's Hall in Ilkley on Thursday, October 23.
Show producer Michael Taylor says The Magic of the Beatles recreates the group’s legendary live performances, and more, taking you from their Mop Top roots to the psychedelia of Sgt Pepper and beyond, from Love Me Do to Let It Be.
“The Magic of the Beatles is a two-hour spectacular featuring superb costumes and a cast of skilled musicians and singers,” said Michael.
“It authentically recreates the live concert shows of John, Paul, George and Ringo that generated fan hysteria never seen before or since.
“Fantastic costumes, brilliant vocals and incredible musicianship come together.
“A Hard Day’s Night with The Magic of the Beatles celebrates the most exciting time in pop music history live and in concert.”
The cast have appeared alongside The Merseybeats, The Searchers, The Hollies, The Bay City Rollers, Madness, Boy George, Kula Shaker, Blue, Snow Patrol, Coldplay and Girls Aloud.
They have performed in virtually every country in Europe including France, Germany, Italy, Holland and Norway, and have also toured Russia, The USA, the Caribbean, China and the Middle East.
