The Guiseley Brothers are back at the Swan in Addingham this Saturday.
After years of cultivating a sophisticated semi-acoustic sound which incorporates strong vocals from the band, they are now going back to their roots. For one night only, in the second set they are dispensing with their stools and the acoustic guitars and instead will be going all electric. When asked why, lead singer Paul McKendrick said: “We have been playing together now for more than 20 years. Back in the 1990s when we were in the band PSYCHE, we played our own original loud rock music. More recently, The Guiseley Brothers has provided us with an opportunity to focus on tone and quality – to strip things back so the audience can hear the strength of the songs that we cover. But now we thought we would get the electric guitars out again one last time, just to see how it sounds!”
Ian and Nikki, who run the Swan, said that they had asked the band if they might ever consider doing this but so far they had drawn a blank.
“At long last, the band has decided to give it a go and we’re delighted,” said Ian. “The guys have been coming here for the past few years and it’ll be great to see them do an all electric set.”
The band will be on stage shortly after 9pm on Saturday.
