Ilkley singer-songwriter Rupert Stroud is set for more success as he supports James Blunt, after getting his new single played on BBC Radio 2.
Rupert has been asked to support James Blunt in front of a 5,000 capacity audience at Dalby Forest on Thursday, June 26, it was revealed last week.
His new single, Morning Light, was released on iTunes and Amazon on April 14. It was first played on air by Dermot O’Leary, on his radio show in March.
This is the second track of Ruper’s which Dermot has played in recent months.
The single has also received support plays from Alan Raw at BBC Introducing, Chris Hawkins and Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music and BFBS Radio (British Forces Broadcasting Service) have added it to their playlist and invited him down for a live studio session and interview next month – for a worldwide listening audience of a million people in 23 countries. Rupert has an exciting spring and summer of gigs and festivals to come and he has already been booked for Live At Leeds, City of Manchester Sport & Music Festival, Tramlines Festival and Wike Stock.
Upcoming dates include Live at Leeds on Saturday, May 3, at the Cockpit bar, Leeds; at City of Manchester Sport and Music Festival on Saturday, May 10, and Tockwith Festival, North Yorkshire, on Saturday, May 17.
Rupert will perform at Alzheimer’s Research UK Big Walk after party, in Cambridge on July 13, and, and at Ilkley Music and Food Festival, August 8 to 10.
