A new opera starring celebrated sculptor Bruce McLean is set to take centre stage at Leeds Art Gallery next month.
For one night only, at Leeds Art Gallery’s Tiled Hall, artist Bruce McLean will be joined by co-producers Sam Belinfante and Lawrence Preece in a special performance of their new chamber opera The Changing Room.
Performance and live action have been pivotal to McLean’s art from the 1970s onwards – and the opera will be held as part of the Bruce McLean: Another Condition of Sculpture exhibition currently being showcased at the art gallery. Two performances of the one-hour show will be held, at 7pm and 9pm, on Thursday, May 8.
Organisers say capacity is limited, and tickets should be bought as soon as possible. Tickets cost £12 or £8 for concession and can be bought at the Gallery Shop or on 0113 395 7116.

Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure and skills said: "The famous Tiled Hall at Leeds Art Gallery is a fantastic place to watch live performances, and we cannot wait for a new opera by renowned sculptor Bruce McLean to take centre stage on May 8.
“This show sits aside a range of McLean’s work currently being displayed at the Art Gallery which spanning over 50 years is certainly worth visiting.”
