Folkrock legends Fairport Convention are set to play live for the first time at King’s Hall in Ilkley on Wednesday, May 21.
Hailed as the originators of British folk-rock music, Fairport Convention remain one of the most entertaining bands on the live music scene. This concert will feature a mix of material from their recent albums as well as classics from the band’s earlier repertoire. There will also be some brand new and previously unperformed songs destined for Fairport’s next studio album.
The band has won a coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and Radio 2 listeners voted Fairport’s groundbreaking album Liege & Lief ‘The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time’.
The current line-up of Simon Nicol (lead vocal, rhythm and electric guitars), Dave Pegg (backing vocals, bass guitar, mandolin), Ric Sanders (violin), Chris Leslie (lead vocal, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin) and Gerry Conway (percussion and drums) is still packing venues on frequent tours and we’re delighted to welcome them to Ilkley.
Tickets: £22 + booking fees. Concessions: £2 off. Call the Box Office on (01274) 432000 or visit bradford-theatres.co.uk.
