Wedding bells are set to ring at Yeadon Town Hall as BrassNeck Theatre gets ready for its next musical offering.
The Wedding Singer is based on the cult film of the same name starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and set in the 1980s.
It tells the story of Robbie Hart, wannabe rock star and New Jersey’s favourite wedding singer. Robbie is the life of the party until his fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, he makes every wedding as disastrous as his own.
Director Royston Bayfield said that although the film is set to a soundtrack of 80s classics, the stage version is far from being a jukebox musical.
“This production is shaping up to be one of the most challenging projects BrassNeck have taken on, particularly with the constraints of Yeadon Town Hall.
The cast, as ever, have been working very hard but there has been much work done behind the scenes by our stage crew, wardrobe and props departments to make sure that the standard our audiences have come to expect is not compromised.”
It runs at Yeadon Town Hall today, tomorrow and Saturday, at 7.30pm, nightly. Organisers say Friday and Saturday night performances are already almost sold out.
Bookings can be made online at www.brassnecktheatre.com or by telephone on (0113) 250 5011.
