In an already jam-packed year of musicals, comedy, drama and dance, Leeds Grand Theatre has announced a host of brand new shows coming this year along with a sneaky peak into 2015.

Drama comes from Edinburgh Festival favourites Mischief Theatre, who present their brand new production The Play That Goes Wrong that sees The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society attempt to put on a 1920s’ murder mystery but, as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong does.

Mischief Theatre is a nationally renowned company and has now announced The Play that Goes Wrong will have a West End transfer. Catch it here in Yorkshire first from July 7-12.

Comedians Jasper Carrott, Dawn French and Ken Dodd will each take to the Leeds’ stage later this year; Ken Dodd with his Celebration Happiness Show that celebrates his 60 years in the business (Sunday, August 31), Dawn French brings her first ever solo tour Thirty Million Minutes to the City on September 2 and Jasper Carrott invites us all to ‘Stand Up & Rock’ with his all-new stand-up routine and Bev Bevan (ELO, the Move) providing the rock.

The National Theatre returns to its Leeds home with the nationally renowned One Man Two Guv’nors from November 4-8. Starring Hale & Pace’s Norman Pace and EastEnders’ Emma Barton, One Man… is a true celebration of British comedy, satire, songs, slapstick and one-liners.

Specially for Christmas this year The Grand Theatre is delighted to welcome back Top Hat (December 23 to January 4).

Leeds Grand was the first theatre to receive the show back in 2011, ahead of its West End transfer and since then Kenny Wax’s production of the Irving Berlin/RKO motion picture has won three Olivier Awards Best New Musical, Best Choreography and Best Costumes.

Top Hat brings the glamour of Hollywood’s golden age and the glorious tap-dancing magic of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers to the stage in an uplifting romantic comedy.

Just on sale for next year is Barnum the musical that follows the imagination and dreams of Phineas T Barnum, America’s Greatest Showman.

Many stars have taken on the role over the years and Leeds is delighted to welcome Brian Conley as Barnum.
