A host of family-focused half-term activities will be held at Otley Courthouse next week.
The fun starts on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, when Mimika Theatre will be inviting the audience to step into their white dome and experience a magical, intimate story about the natural world.
Featuring puppets, music and environments that range from deserts and rainforests to the Antarctic, there will be four performances of Landscapes – at 10.30am, noon, 2pm and 3.30pm.
Centre manager Chloe Perry said: “This is a delightful show and the perfect way to introduce children to theatre.
“The company's beautiful tent will be erected in our Courtroom and all the magic takes place in there. It is beautiful and the whole family will enjoy this together.”
Tickets cost £7 or £5.
A mosaic workshop will be held at the venue on the same day, from 10am to 12.30pm, as one of several creative sessions being run by the Big Hoo-Ha Co.
Tickets cost £8 for an adult with a child – aged five or over – or £4 for an unaccompanied child aged over nine, with an additional charge for materials, in both cases, of £7.
Other Tour de France-inspired Big Hoo-Ha workshops on the day will include bicycle decorating, at 10am, making 'scare-clists' (scarecrow cyclists) at 1.30pm, and flag-making at 2pm. There will be a £1 per person charge for each session.
Bank Holiday Monday visitors are also being invited to bring their Teddy bears along for a Picnic in the Courtyard, from 12.30pm to 2pm.
Epic Mask Making will be the main attraction at 10.30am on Wednesday, May 28, when six to 12-year-olds will be creating masks inspired by the animated film Epic. Admission costs £5, which includes materials.
Then on Thursday, May 29, the Epic movie – about a teenager transported into a forest where a battle between good and evil is raging – will be shown at the Courthouse at 2pm.
Another Big Hoo-Ha workshop, this time on film editing, will be held on the same day at 4pm. Tickets cost £4.
Five to 12-year-olds can try their hand at clay building on the following day, Friday, May 30, at a 10.30am art class that will show them how to make animal heads. Tickets cost £5, which includes materials.
And finally dancing will be the name of the game on Saturday, May 31, with Spiltmilk Say Dance reinventing social dance crazes that have swept the globe.
Their 7.30pm show is split into two parts, with the second getting the audience involved in the dancing. Tickets cost £10 or £8 in advance, or £11 or £9 on the door.
