When Roger Rowley of Horsforth was given the role of the dentist in Stampede Theatre Company's up and coming production of Little Shop of Horrors' little did he know what lay before him in the next few months.

Far from it being a Horror show, Roger has also landed a plum role in a professional production of The Rocky Horror Show'.

"It's all really exciting," said Roger. "Firstly I got a part I've wanted to play for nine years with the dentist and then a couple of weeks later I was asked to play Rocky in The Rocky Horror Show' in a production in Malta!"

Roger was taking part in a Miss Saigon' workshop with a professional director who, when he received a call to say that the actor who was playing the role of Rocky had dropped out, asked Roger if he would be interested in making his professional debut in the show.

"Naturally I jumped at the chance, opportunities like that don't come by every day," said Roger.

He flies out to Malta for rehearsals at the end of the week.

"Stampede have switched rehearsals around so I can still be in Little Shop of Horrors' and I couldn't be happier," said Roger.

Roger played Jean Valjean in Stampede's debut production of Les Miserables' last July.

He was also seen in the title role of Buddy for The Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company in November and also proved a big hit in MW Live's Christmas production at Guiseley Theatre in December.

He hopes to audition to go to a top drama school and start in September.

"To be able to work in the profession before I go to drama school and get the experience that will be on offer is amazing," said Roger.

He added: "I've been lucky enough to play great roles in the last 12 months but this really does top the lot!"

Although most people won't be packing their bags to go and see Roger in Malta you will be able to see him in Stampede's version of the cult classic Little Shop of Horrors' at Yeadon Town Hall from April 18-21.
