A NEW exhibition detailing the experiences of women who have moved to Leeds from around the world is to be showcased from today.
My Case, My Journey looks at the lives and personal stories of women from the city’s migrant communities and the individual challenges they have faced. It will run at The MillSpace at Leeds Industrial Museum from March 5 to May 30.
Inspiration for the exhibition was provided by eight student volunteers from Leeds University, who worked with the Together Women Project.
Featuring in the exhibition will be pieces loaned by some of the immigrants and objects taken from the Leeds Museums and Galleries’ collection. These include clothing, bible verses, incense burners, national flags, and art work created by the students and the women. Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, member for digital and creative technologies, culture and skills said: “Forming part of the city’s International Women’s Day celebrations, this is a unique chance to find out more about the journeys and personal stories of women living in Leeds’ migrant communities.”
