RAZZLE dazzle Broadway musical Chicago is set to come to Yeadon Town Hall.
The show, in August, will be the 13th staged at the town hall by Futurist Theatre Productions.
Set in Chicago during the jazz age, the show follows two Vaudevillian murderesses, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly. Can they be acquitted for their crimes while still remaining front page news? The musical explores the concept of the “celebrity criminal”, told through its action-packed story and exhilarating musical numbers. It features stunning costumes and staging, intricate choreography and classic show tunes including All That Jazz, I Can’t Do It Alone, Cell Block Tango and Razzle Dazzle.
The cast is led by a host of local talent, many of whom have starred in previous Futurist Theatre Productions shows. The creative team includes director and choreographer Catherine Moglia, with sound and lighting provided by the town hall.
Futurist, which celebrates its fifth anniversary in June, has produced a range of shows at Yeadon Town Hall, including Starlight Express, Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q, four A Night at the Musicals shows and three Christmas Spectaculars.
The youth theatre company passionately believes in “Doing The Right Thing”. It prides itself on providing free pre-professional musical theatre training, with shows open to everyone to audition for and completely free to take part in.
The “Doing It Right” policy also states the company’s mission to raise money for charity and remain environmentally friendly where possible, including cutting down on and avoiding single use plastic. The company has also lobbied to encourage Yeadon Town Hall CIC to work towards changing all lighting to LED.
