Burley Trojans U-14s Girls 6 Colton Girls 0
Burley secured a comfortable passage through second round of the cup.
In the eighth minute Zoe Baverstock struck to put the Trojans ahead. The goal seemed to settle Burley and allow them to dictate the game. With the first half coming to a close, Colton fired in an own goal and then a great shot came from Beth Cooper made it 3-0 at half time.
The second half saw more chances for Beth, who netted two more goals to complete her first hat-trick this season. The midfield and defence of Burley battled fiercely with a determined Colton, desperate to score.
At 5-0, with five minutes remaining, a shot from Justine Dudley stopped on the line, to be collected calmly by Colton's goalie. Then came a composed cross from Emmie Bryet to Jess Thorne, who took the ball and fired it in the right side of the goal making it a 6-0 finish.
A well deserved win for the whole team put Burley into the quarter finals of the cup, which are due to be played in February.
Burley Trojans U10 Girls 4 Idle Juniors 0
Burley Trojans U10 girls played host to Idle juniors in the second round of the cup.
Idle are from the league above Burley and had already knocked out Garforth, so they posed a hard challenge.
Burley started well with plenty of movement and some good passing throughout the team. This style of play soon created Burley's first chance with a low hard shot just wide from Hannah Robinson.
The Trojans kept the pressure on when Bethan Smith rattled the post before Anna Ross fired a low shot into the far corner of the net to give Burley the lead.
Hannah Spivey and Leah Millward were keeping things tight at the back whilst Bethan Smith and Natasha Sunderland linked up well in midfield to create more chances, during which a blocked shot from Charlotte Keane was turned in by an Idle defender for an own goal just before half time.
Idle started strongly in the second half, forcing Katie Dinsdale to make a great save to keep the two goal lead intact.
Solid defending from Jessica Parker maintained a clean sheet before an excellent individual effort from Charlotte Keane saw Burley go three goals up.
Idle continued to press but the Burley defence held firm. A fourth goal from Niamh Riley late on sealed a fine victory against a team from the division above.
Ventus Utd Youth 5 Ilkley Dynamos 2
THIS match took a long time to get going. Ventus came closest when Firth curled a 25-yard slot goalwards only to see Bates tip the ball over. At the other end Mynett went close for the Dynamos.
Eventually Dynamos took the lead when Bishop smashed a cleared corner back into the goal.
This spurred Ventus into another gear and they drew level through Summers.
Dynamos' Mitchell and Mynett played a great 1-2 and Mynett's pass found Bloom who tapped in to put the Dynamos in front for a second time.
Ventus went on the attack and soon had their chances to score but shots were blocked for a series of corners. Holmes and Winterbottom both shot over the bar after good work by Jack Summers and Campbell headed over. Ventus drew level when Summers, with the freedom of Yeadon on the right, had time to find Stephens who headed home unmarked.
One of only two Dynamos counter attacks came when Vaughan headed clear and Bloom's run from halfway ended with him shooting wide.
J Summers again found space down the left, sent over across and L Winterbottom side footed home to put Ventus 3-2 in front.
Summers' cross-cum-shot floated over Bates into the net to make it 4-2 and then he volleyed home Winterbottom's cross for a great hat-trick .
Keighley Shamrocks U9 0 Menston Rangers U9 7
On a glorious morning Rangers travelled to Airedale to take on Keighley Shamrocks who after a bright start to the season had began to falter, but had gained a reputation as a hard side to break down.
Rangers started very strongly and soon had Keighley penned into their own half, the first goal came within five minutes of play when Fripp powered his way through the defence to drive an unstoppable shot past a despairing dive by the goalkeeper.
This was just the start Rangers wanted and when Bulcock's cross was converted by Greenwood from close range, they had seized the initiative, Western then put in a cross which Bulcock guided in at the far post, Greenwood cleverly chipped the goalkeeper from Green's through ball for the fourth and when Green hammered home Bowie's corner, Rangers had scored five goals in a pulsating first half.
As Rangers took the field for the second half they were soon under pressure as Keighley dominated proceedings.
The two defenders Green and Cavanagh are the unsung heroes of the team and their alertness and endeavour carried the team through an uncomfortable ten minutes at the start of the second half as they were called on to clear their lines on many occasions.
This provided time for the midfield trio of Tripp, Western and Bowie to begin to dominate the midfield again and Bulcock and Greenwood were beginning to get on the ends of some good moves and look threatening up front.
Clever play around the edge of the box created a chance and Fripp drove a powerful shot across the area which an unlucky defender had the misfortune to turn into his own goal.
Then a clever weighted pass from Bowie fed Bulcock who deftly slotted the ball under the advancing goalkeeper. Heard came on as substitute which allowed Green the opportunity of playing in midfield where he displayed what a versatile player he is. Two instinctive saves by Joseph in goal gave Rangers their clean sheet which their first half performance merited.
Cavanagh was awarded the man of the match award for his outstanding performance in a good team display.
