Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway will return to its days as a 1950s branch line over the bank holiday weekend.

Train enthusiasts from near and far are expected at the line between Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday, to see an intensive service of passenger, goods and parcels trains in action, hauled by heritage steam and diesel locomotives.

Trains will run every 30 minutes, from 10am to 4pm. The main services are hauled by four steam locomotives and two heritage British Railway diesel locomotives, with one of the most intense services ever seen on the railway.

This event is also the debut of the newly-arrived Lancashire and Yorkshire railway tender engine 1300.

At Embsay station the narrow gauge demonstration railway will be operating, featuring the newly-arrived Ruston Hornsby locomotive Vulcan, built in 1942, which was recently donated by Yorkshire Water.

At Bolton Abbey station, the rapidly developing Hambleton Valley Miniature Railway 7¼ gauge railway will be running, with all available locomotives in operation.

Tickets are available online and full details are now available at embsayboltonabbeyrailway.org.uk.
