Signs advertising a Yeadon housing estate will have to be removed, after Leeds Council refused a retrospective advertising application because it was too “confusing.”
Charles Church Homes had applied for permission for a sign they had already erected at the junction of Gill Lane and New Road, advertising a housing estate on Greenlea Close.
Leeds City Council planning officers said the site was too far away from the housing estate to justify such a large sign, and refused the application earlier this week. In their refusal they said: “Due in part to the signage offering directional advice to a housing site located some distance from the site, it is considered that the proximity of the sign to the traffic light-controlled junction would add to confusion that could be detrimental to highway safety.”
