A hospice for young people with terminal illnesses has chosen Ilkley as the place to open its eighth shop.
The new shop will be on 21 Brook Street, just doors away from letting agents Linley & Simpson, which has made the hospice its charity of the year. Along with its other branch in Horsforth, Linley & Simpson is aiming to raise £20,000 for the hospice.
Martin House retail manager Stephanie Rimmington, along with the hospice’s mascot Marty Bear, will be opening the Ilkley shop at 10.30am on Friday, September 6.
Stephanie said: “We are delighted to be able to announce the opening of another Martin House shop.
“We’ve saved up all the best quality clothes and designer handbags and shoes to go on sale the day it opens. Come early to grab the best bargains. We also need volunteers and stock so please do come along and support the shop.”
Martin House Charity Shops provide a vital income steam for the hospice in a very challenging economic climate. All money raised from the shop goes to support the children’s hospice, based in Boston Spa near Wetherby, which relies almost entirely on donations and fundraising to raise more than £4.9 million a year, allowing them to provide vital care and support for local children and their families.
Any goods to be donated to the shop can be dropped off at 21 Brook Street from Monday, September 2. Interested volunteers should contact Elaine at Martin House on (01937) 845045 or e-mail egreen@martinhouse.org.uk.
