A dance troupe from Guiseley has won a workshop with a top choreographer after seizing the junior prize in a competition.
The six girls and one boy from the West Yorkshire School of Performing Arts received the junior trophy in the Can You Dance competition run by choreographers Matt Flint, Lukas McFarlane, Nicolette Whitly and Tom Shilcock.
Matt, the winner of the BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance, will be holding the workshop at the Guiseley studio in the near future. The winning dancers, aged from eight to 12, also received £100 after performing a routine which included street jazz and acrobatics.
Dance school principal Karen Fawcett said her pupils were all excited about the forthcoming workshop. She said: “Our troupe danced to bongo, putting on a winning performance with months of rehearsals paying off. As principal I was so proud of them all.”
