ROTARY CLUB: As the weekly meeting of the club held on Tuesday evening was the last in the month, members’ wives, members of Inner Wheel and guests attended. They were entertained by speaker, former president Brian Whitham, who gave a most interesting talk about the History of Recorded Sound. This covered the full period starting with the inventor Thomas Eddison right up to the present day, culminating with current methods, i-Pods, i-Pads and all other ‘pods’ in which literally thousands of recordings can be stored on equipment the size of a matchbox. Thanks were expressed by Robert Mirfield.
BRIDGE CLUB: On Tuesday, July 30, seven and a half tables played 28 boards, N/S: 1st Mr Brown & Mr Thompson, 2nd Mr Bridge & Mrs Saville; E/W: 1st Mrs Clark & Mrs Harfield, 2nd Mrs Colley & Mrs Humphreys.
