The Dacre Son & Hartley Ilkley Open Tennis Tournament proved a huge success with player numbers rocketing. A total of 625 entered this year, which is an increase of 167 from last year’s figures.
More than 30 competitions were played, including junior age groups, veterans and handicap categories as well as the tournament’s showpiece – the men’s and ladies’ AEGON British Tour events.
The tournament, which ran from July 27 to August 3, was part of the three-week Ilkley Tennis Festival. The Men’s AEGON British Tour Champion was local hero Kyle Brassington and the Ladies’ AEGON British Tour Champion was Natasha Hillyer from the West Midlands.
Head of Dacres Residential Patrick McCutcheon said: “We were delighted to lend our support to what was an incredibly exciting and well organised event.
“It was very inspirational to see every level of player, ranging in age from under eight to the over-60s competing and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting lots of existing and prospective clients at the event.”
