Harewood House is to run a new cycling festival to run in tandem with next year's Tour de France when it comes to Yorkshire.
The dates are Friday, July 4 to Sunday, July 6 and will give cycling fans the opportunity to see Grand Depart 2014 first-hand as it passes through the grounds of the stately home during Stage 1 from Leeds to Harrogate on the Saturday.
Festival-goers will have the chance to join special led rides to watch the race from the best vantage points as well as be able to enjoy the action on big screens within the grounds.
Festival director Christopher Newton says it will be a celebration of all things two wheeled with camping and glamping to complete the weekend experience.
A large Expo with major and emerging cycling and outdoor brands will there as well as on-site entertainment focusing on a central stage, cycling demonstrations, safe storage for visitors' bikes – and of course great food and drink.
Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to follow in the tracks of the Tour riders by getting involved in the various rides, which will be available to members of the public throughout the weekend.
Mass-participation events will also be organised including sportives for all abilities, a women-only Cycletta and children's events – all delivered by Human Race, the UK’s largest mass-participation events company.
