A 23-strong team of employees from the head office of Yorkshire family motor business JCT600 is gearing up for a sponsored sky dive, which they hope will raise over £10,000 for charity.
The airborne feat is part of the company’s year-long campaign to raise money for its chosen charity for this year, the British Heart Foundation.
The intrepid team, based in Apperley Bridge, is set to make the jump on October 5, at Grindale airfield near Bridlington. Leaping from a plane at an altitude of 12,000 ft, each sky diver will be attached to an experienced tandem parachute instructor.
Emma Cummins from JCT600, who initiated and organised the event, said: “It turns out we’re a pretty brave lot at JCT600. When I told my colleagues about the idea there was lots of interest and excitement at the prospect and it’s great that so many have signed up to take the challenge, including our chief executive.
“Heart disease affects so many people’s lives and anything we can do to help fight it is incredibly worthwhile.”
Sue Green, fundraising and volunteer manager for West Yorkshire at the British Heart Foundation, said: “The skydive will be a fantastic challenge for JCT600, we are grateful for the tremendous support that the team have shown, by taking part in and organising a huge variety of activities this year.
“The money they are raising will help our fight against heart disease, through our pioneering heart research, vital prevention activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease.”
