Menston-based writer and journalist Duncan Hamilton, double winner of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award, is up for another cash prize in October.
Following his biographies of Brian Clough, whom he knew for 20 years, and England fast bowler Harold Larwood, Mr Hamilton’s family chronicle The Footballer Who Could Fly is one of five books short-listed for the £5,000 Gordon Burn Prize in the Durham Literature Festival.
The late Gordon Burn was a journalist and writer whose books included Somebody’s Husband, Somebody’s Son, about Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe.
