A cancer charity's Otley-based fundraising group is celebrating its “best year ever”.
Otley and Wharfedale Fundraising Group for Macmillan Cancer Support raised £17,197 in 2013 by holding everything from regular coffee mornings to a fun day, fashion shows and a garden party.
Street collections also boosted the total and members Di Rutherford and Ros Hutchinson said they were grateful to everyone who had supported them.
Di said: “Everybody has been great and we would also like to thank the dedicated stallholders who support us.
“We're all passionate about Macmillan and joined the group to make friends, have fun and, of course, above all raise money for them. Our meetings are fun, lively and uplifting, with everyone working as a team, and we're always looking for new ideas, venues and people – we have members of all ages.”
Ros added: “We have a new venue now that we're very happy with at the Otley Core Resource Centre, where we meet on the first Thursday of every month at 2pm.
“If people have anything they'd like to donate as a raffle prize or handicraft, or materials like wool they can leave them at the Core on that day.”
The group's next fundraising event will be a fashion show at M&Co in Orchard Gate, Otley, on Friday, April 25. Tickets are available from the store.
