The winners of the Ilkley Gazette and Wharfedale & Aireborough Observer Winter Scenes photography competition were presented with their prize – a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ40 camera – at Annings Camera Shop in Ilkley on Saturday. Nick Hodgson, far right, was the adult winner and Ellie Dennis, 13, was the junior winner. They are pictured with Paul Annings, far left, and the president of the Rotary Club of Ilkley John Metcalf.
Nick’s winning image is being displayed in Annings camera shop and copies will be able to be purchased, with profits going to Macmillan Cancer Care. The charity is one that is close to Nick’s heart due to members of his family being affected by cancer.
The competition was run in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Ilkley. The cub's youth committee plays an active role in encouraging young people to prosper in, and interact with, the local community. Some of its projects include running the Young Dales Chef competition, organising the Ilkley Pancake Race, holding a handwriting competition and a technology tournament, as well as running a Leadership Award.
