A school’s netballers have achieved the most successful season ever in their school’s history.
The girls, from The Grammar School at Leeds, are celebrating a hat-trick of national titles, taking the U15 and U19 titles in the Independent Schools Netball Cup just a week after the U16s became champions at the England Netball National Schools Competition.
Under 19 team members include Rachel Foster, of Rawdon and Aneesah Kabba Kamara, of Horsforth. Hannah Gorman, of Bramhope plays for both the U16 and the U15 teams, while her U15 team mates include Imogen Bates, of Otley and Aisling Madden, of Bramhope.
Aneesah said: “Our training has focused on fitness, tactics and set play, while gelling as a team is really important. We have experience playing together at national finals, which paid off on the day against some tough opposition.”
GSAL’s head of netball Mrs Cath Johnson said: “We are very proud of this team’s achievements over the years and they have become central to our training programme. Interaction between the age groups is very important with the senior players becoming role models to the younger team members, exemplifying the attitude, commitment and respect for one another that brings success.”
