The sun shone on Yorkshire in Bloom judges as they inspected Otley's floral landmarks last week.
Maurice and Judith Baren were shown around Wharfemeadows Park, Otley Wetland Nature Reserve, and Burras Lane allotments during their Thursday, April 10 visit.
They were guided by Otley in Bloom chairman David Bellerby and members Jacquie Harvey and Edie Bates, along with Town Councillors Nigel Gill – in his capacity as Deputy Town Mayor – and Kevin Cooney.
The judges also enjoyed a walk through town that took in the Memorial Garden before having lunch at the Methodist Church, where a distinctly unusual yellow attraction caught their eye.
The dazzlingly spraypainted mountain bike, complete with a basket of yellow flowers, is the first of about 20 that Otley in Bloom are busy positioning around town to herald the Tour de France's arrival in July.
The group are hoping to repeat last year's success, when the town was awarded two Silver Gilt Rose Awards by Yorkshire in Bloom for the strength of its displays.
