A cut-price war has started in Guiseley with the opening of a Poundworld store next to an existing Poundstretcher.
The new store opened on Thursday at Westside Retail Park, creating 30 new jobs.
Family-run Poundworld – the subject of the BBC1 documentary Pound Shop Wars – boasts more than 5,000 products for the bargain price of £1.
The store opening is part of the company’s latest expansion plans to open a further 50 stores this week, creating 1,500 new jobs by the end of the year.
Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Poundworld, said: “We hope shoppers will take advantage of the great deals we have on a vast range that includes branded and value products, from groceries to cleaning products and pet care.”
The Yorkshire-based company was founded in 1997 and has over 240 stores across the UK.
