Otley residents will be able to support a global health project when they visit a children’s book stall this weekend.
Otley Lions is holding the stall, to raise money for the many good causes it backs, at the Buttercross from 9am to 1pm on Easter Saturday, April 19.
Visitors will also be asked to consider donating to a collection bucket for the Lions Club International Foundation’s (LCIF) One Shot, One Life campaign.
The initiative aims to vaccinate as many children in the developing world as possible against measles.
Vaccinations cost just $1 and to mark the 2014 World Immunisation Week the LCIF is attempting to raise $1 million.
The money raised will be matched by the billionaire Oswal family – who are Lions – in India.
Otley Lions have already donated £1,000 to the cause, which equates to about 3,350 immunisations.
One million children die each year before reaching their fifth birthday due to contracting preventable diseases like measles.
