Arthington Village Hall will be transformed by yellow bunting and flowers for the visit of the Tour de France this summer.
The hall’s committee has teamed up with that of Arthington Village Green to ensure the race’s riders and spectators are greeted with a wash of colour on Saturday, July 5.
As well as decorating the outside of the hall the committees have been busy organising a variety of activities and attractions for the day.
Arthington Parish Council clerk Val Butcher said: “The Village Hall and its surroundings will be a mass of yellow with bunting which we are making by hand, and lots of yellow flowers we are growing from seed.
“We will also be serving refreshments in the cafe, from bacon sandwiches and pizza to homemade cakes and scones with strawberry jam, and there will be a barbeque outside.
“In the hall there will also be a book sale and activities for children and adults alike – and all this is being done by a happy band of volunteers without any grants from taxpayers.”
Two car parks, one at the hall and the other at St Peter's Church, will be available on the day.
