Councillors are urging people in Horsforth to get fit in their park with an ‘outdoor gym.’ Ward councillors for the area Brian Cleasby and Chris Townsley have organised for thousands of leaflets to be printed and distributed across Horsforth and Rawdon to highlight the outdoor activities on offer at Hall Park.
The park includes a Health Walk Trail, a bowls green a cricket field, two playgrounds, and a skate park. A Trim Trail, which opened in 2007, includes stepping stones, static bars and cargo nets.
Coun Cleasby said: “Horsforth Hall Park is an excellent asset in our community and the Trim Trail there is first rate and now there is a first class leaflet to navigate it with. The equipment will allow residents to partake in some fun and healthy activities while enjoying the outdoors and working off the last of that winter comfort eating. This is a popular local asset and the Trim Trail will encourage more people of all ages, especially the young, to come and use their park. In the year of Tour de France, Horsforth Hall Park is a fantastic way to get everyone out and about, enjoying exercise.”
Councillor Townsley added: “As president of Horsforth Village Historical Society, I am so pleased that the leaflet also showcases some of the circular walks available in our beautiful countryside, produced by the society. I am certain that the leaflets will prove to be very useful for everyone – they make good reading.”
