The owner of a stationery business went back to his old school to present pupils with some new pens as part of a national handwriting initiative.
Addingham resident Richard Mashiter, owner of Craven Stationery in Skipton, went back to the school at which he was first educated some 50 years on to present pupils with state-of-the-art new pens.
Every pupil in Year 4 at Water Street Community Primary School received a Pilot Frixion erasable pen as a reward for completing a piece of poetry in their best handwriting.
Mr Mashiter made the gesture during 2014 National Stationery Week last week, which was run in conjunction with the Get Britain Writing campaign.
“One of the key aims of the initiative is to remind children how important handwriting is, even in the age of electronic gadgets,” he said.
