A 15-year-old girl from Guiseley is becoming a rising star in music and drama after being chosen for a lead role in a Gilbert and Sullivan Society production.
Ruby Hendry has joined Bingley Gilbert and Sullivan Society to play the part of Kate in a 2014 production of The Yeomen of The Guard.
Ruby has been involved in music and drama since she was three and her favourite roles to date include Annie (Annie), Ballet Girl (Billy Elliott) and Killer Queen (We Will Rock You).
As a Bradford Grammar School pupil, she has also played major roles in her school productions. Most recently she played Jenny in The Likes of Us and Madame Vulture in Johnson Over Jordan.
She has won a number of awards for her singing, including first prize at the Robertshaw Festival. She is currently working towards her ABRSM grade eight under the tutelage of the renowned tenor James Griffett and hopes to continue afterwards to complete a performance diploma. Her hopes for the future include the RCM Opera School. The Yeomen Of The Guard, runs until Saturday at Bingley Arts Centre. Ticket prices range from £8 to £14.
