Otley Courthouse has officially unveiled its new Timeline.
The permanent display in the old cell block tells the story of the building’s long and rich history.
It was declared open last Saturday, May 3, by the Reverend James Turnbull – a former solicitor at the Courthouse in the 1960s before its transformation into an arts centre ten years ago.
Other guests of honour included Town Mayor Councillor Pam Gill (Lab, Manor) and the vice-chairman of the Courthouse’s directors, Hazel Costello.
Produced by the Otley Courthouse Memories Group and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Timeline traces the venue’s changing roles dating back to 1853.
Neighbourhood Policing Team officers also attended the launch, which was part of the Courthouse’s busy weekend of tenth anniversary celebrations.
Visitors also enjoyed games, fingerprinting, and brass rubbings and had a final chance to look at Otley’s Alternative Domesday Book, which was created to celebrate the new millennium.
