A risk manager from Otley was set to take on the Leeds Half Marathon last weekend in memory of his mother.
Robin Sutton is also hoping to raise as much money as possible from the run on Sunday for St Gemma’s Hospice.
The hospice treated his mother Eileen before her death last year.
Robin, who works for Yorkshire-based broker and risk management company Gauntlet, was set to run the 13.1-mile course with colleagues Eddie Lee, Craig Harte and Ian McCarron, wearing vests carrying a picture of Eileen.
Robin said: “The hospice makes an incredible difference to the lives of its patients and their relatives, so I wanted to show my appreciation by raising money to assist the work it does.
“Over the course of the coming weeks, I hope to add to the total raised so far. Every pound makes a big difference.”
Originally from Roundhay in Leeds, Robin has been road running to prepare for the half marathon and has set up a donation page which has already raised £975 for St Gemma’s.
