Ales from around Yorkshire will be on sale in a Grand Depart beer festival to raise money to help a little boy to walk.
Le Tour De Beer will take place at Coopers Bar in Guiseley this month with proceeds going to local worthy causes.
The main charity to be supported is Wesley’s Wish Trust, which is raising money to help a two-year-old to walk.
Wes, who lives in Guiseley, was born at just 31 weeks, and suffered brain damage.
The youngster, who has cerebral palsy, is unlikely to walk without specialist surgery.
The trust was set up to raise funds to allow Wesley to go to the USA to receive selective dorsal rhizotomy – an operation which has allowed more than 2,000 children with Wes’s condition to walk.
The little boy has been accepted for surgery, which will cost more than £36,000. Following the operation, Wes will also need three years of intensive physiotherapy.
Guiseley and District Lions Club will hold its annual charity beer festival – with this year’s Le Tour theme – on Friday, May 16, Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18.
Twenty-four real ales from The Yorkshire Grand Depart region will be available along with a choice of wine and cider. Local businesses are sponsoring each of the beers and all proceeds will go to local worthy causes.
A spokesman said: “Last year full houses on both evenings guaranteed a warm welcoming atmosphere as friends old and new enjoyed the delights of the finest ales from the borders along with ciders and wine.
“This year former Leeds United football star Gary McAllister will be opening the event, which will include auctions, raffles and games.”
Entry is by ticket at £5 a person which includes a souvenir glass, two half-pints and a programme detailing the beer’s sponsors.
Additional beers will cost £2.50 a pint. Sessions are from 7pm to 11pm each evening, 1pm to 4pm on Saturday and noon to 3pm on Sunday.
Pie and peas will also be on sale. Tickets can be bought from Coopers or wegot tickets.com. Visit guiseley.co.uk/lions for more information.
