Children planted poppy seeds in memory of the fallen of the First World War.
Eight pupils from St Oswald’s Junior School were chosen to sow the seeds during a visit by Guiseley in Bloom and the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales.
The plantings took places at the school, St Oswald’s Church and Guiseley war memorial. A spokesman for the school said: “The children helped to sow them within the school’s raised beds and then walked to St Oswald’s church then the war memorial to plant more. “The children read a prayer in each location and visited the graves of the soldiers in St Oswald’s churchyard. By doing this the children realised that soldiers were buried within the grounds of the church also it gave them chance to reflect on the past.”
