Action is being taken to tackle a ‘major’ safety issue caused by parked cars in Yeadon.
Measures are being introduced after a number of complaints about near misses and reduced visibility for residents coming out of their roads onto Green Lane.
Yeadon councillor Ryk Downes has welcomed the news that Leeds City Council is going to tackle the parking problems on Green Lane.
He said: “This has been a major issue locally, with inappropriate parking causing major road safety issues. We have received a large number of complaints about near misses and cars mounting the grass verge so I welcome the news that the council is to tackle the problem.
“My colleagues and I have asked Highways to ensure that cars don’t spread into neighbouring streets but hopefully a scheme to prevent this should not hold up the proposal.”
The proposal is to introduce a restriction on a temporary emergency basis for 18 months, with a permanent traffic regulation order to follow. The restriction will ban waiting from 8am to 6pm.
