Safety is set to be improved outside Benton Park and Guiseley Schools with the introduction of 20 mile per hour zones.
The two schemes are among 24 zones being set up by Leeds City Council after a consultation which opened last year. There were no objections to the Guiseley and Rawdon schemes, and they have been welcomed by councillors for the ward.
Coun Paul Wadsworth said: “These two schools have large pupil numbers attending and 20mph zones will help to ensure that they can travel to school as safely possible. It is also worth noting that the safer local roads are, the more chance there is of families encouraging children to walk or cycle to school which will have a knock-on effect on travel volumes during the school run. I look forward to seeing this scheme on the ground and the added safety there will be on our roads.”
Coun Graham Latty added: “These 20mph zones will certainly help both young and old alike to cross what can be busy roads.”
