Otley’s MP has taken on a new apprentice as part of a push to broaden access to Parliament.
Eighteen-year-old Corrina Bright is helping Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) under a new traineeship scheme that was launched during National Apprenticeship Week.
The initiative sees school-leavers enrolling on a 12-week training programme that combines work experience placements in MPs’ offices with studies by Westminster Kingsway College and masterclasses from think tank Demos.
At the end of the programmes, trainees like Corrina will have the chance to apply for full Parliamentary apprentice positions and other Parliamentary and political roles.
Mr Mulholland said: “I am delighted to be involved in the traineeship scheme and hope Corrina has had a fantastic first week in my Westminster office.”
