Four pupils from Westville House School have won the semi-finals of the National KS2 Inter School General Knowledge Competition and are now heading to the famous public school Harrow for the finals in June.
Taking place at Birkdale Prep school in Sheffield, the competition was nail biting and fierce.
Pitted against Manchester Grammar school, Birkdale Prep, The Grammar School at Leeds, Lyndhurst Prep, and Terrington Hall, Westville began in a reserved and quiet fashion and as the rounds progressed their confidence soared and they romped home with a fantastic victory.
The team from Westville will now face 11 other teams in the National Final, to be held at Harrow School in June.
Mrs Lizzie Whiteley, from Westville, was absolutely delighted and enormously proud of the team.
She said: “The team were on brilliant form – a superb achievement, and we wish them all huge success in the final.”
Rosey James, Westville’s headteacher, added: “We are all delighted with our team’s success.
“Entry into national competitions is part of our Gifted and Talented programme.
“All of the children in the school have taken part in the preliminary rounds to choose the team and find the event very exciting.”
