Two Wharfedale students have been selected to represent their peers at The Grammar School at Leeds.
Mary-Anne Sixsmith, from Rawdon, and Tom Gorman, from Bramhope, were among the six candidates chosen for the school’s team of three head girls and three head boys.
In order to be picked the successful candidates had to write a manifesto, win votes from staff and students and prove their calibre at interview with the senior management team.
Mary-Anne, who previously held office on the Leeds Youth Council, said: “I’ve learned what it takes to represent your peers, work as a team member, listen to others and take constructive advice.”
Tom, who plays rugby for GSAL as well as representing Yorkshire and England North, said: “I was very happy to get the role and the chance to give something back to school. It’s a privilege to represent your year group and the school as a whole, and we’re looking forward to developing our individual roles.”
