Maxine Peake is coming to Ilkley for one of Ilkley Literature Festival’s round-the-year events, this one to commemorate the Grand Depart.
Maxine, known for her roles in TV’s Silk and Shameless, will be in conversation with James Brining, Artistic Director of West Yorkshire Playhouse and will talk about her theatre writing debut for the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
Beryl, written by Maxine Peake, celebrates the extraordinary sporting achievements of Morley cyclist Beryl Burton.
To celebrate Yorkshire's role in this year's Tour de France, Beryl is a specially commissioned adaptation of Maxine Peake's acclaimed 2012 Radio 4 play and marks her stage writing debut.
The event is on Sunday, June 8, at the King’s Hall, at 7.30pm.
