A Yorkshire surgeon has been appointed to the role of executive medical director at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

Karl Mainprize was formerly deputy medical director at York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His role, in addition to being a member of the board, will be as the trust lead for quality and safety and clinical and information governance. Ensuring patient safety, care and experience is a priority. He will also provide professional leadership for clinical staff and managing medical education and training as well as developing relationships with commissioners and regulators.

Karl said: “I am delighted with my new appointment and I am looking forward to working closely with my new colleagues to enhance the services “Airedale provides to commissioners and for the local community. I am interested in developing technology to improve communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams and believe we can design our service around patients’ needs.”
