Outline planning permission is being sought to build 11 houses on land south of Moor Lane in Addingham.
Villagers called a meeting at The Fleece pub on Saturday about the application, and 18 objections were submitted to Bradford Council over the plans.
Applicant, Walter Fortune, is asking the Council for permission to build three two-bedroom houses, six three-bedroom houses, and two with four or more bedrooms.
A design and access statement by Arrowsmith Associates says it accepts the principle of developing the site is not consistent with the entirety of the current planning policy, but in light of the Council’s lack of an up-to-date five year supply of developable sites for residential development, the development plan is not up to date.
Objectors are concerned about traffic movements, increased risk of flooding, possible overshadowing of nearby houses, and narrowness of the access road. Residents say the entrance road, a single track extension to Moor Lane, is a Roman road used by walkers and people from the opposite side of the A65, as well as being used as a bridle path.
The development proposal includes the improvement of Moor Lane to adoptable standard.
