A children’s playground in Yeadon looks set to be revamped after a possible donor was found to help with funding.
The Liberal Democrat Councillors for the area Ryk Downes, Colin Campbell and Sandy Lay are cautiously welcoming the news that a possible donor has been found to match up to £70,000 of funding to make Tarnfield Park Playground a place for children to enjoy again.
They say £80,000 had already been found from local developer contributions to refurbish the playground – but estimates to fully revamp the park had come in at around £150,000.
Coun Downes said: “In response to residents’ calls for improvement to the children’s play area, we had identified funding to re-equip the park and we just need the council to help us find someone who could match it, to enable a full refurbishment.
Coun Campbell added: “The children’s playground is beginning to look tired and so we are pleased that the plans appear to be moving in a positive direction.”
Coun Lay said: “This is great news for local children and that is why Coun Downes will be visiting local schools to see what children in our ward would like to see in their park.”
