More signs that the countdown to the Tour de France has begun in earnest have popped up in Otley.
Leeds City Council attached ten official Yorkshire Grand Depart banners to lamp-posts along the Tour’s route through town last Friday, May 16.
The date was significant as it marked only 50 days remaining until the race’s first stage, from Leeds to Harrogate, begins on Saturday, July 5.
Some of Otley’s businesses have also been getting in on the act, with The Otley Tavern, in New Market, temporarily renamed La Taverne Otley in honour of the great sporting event’s imminent arrival.
As well as the French name banner, the pub is also flying the tricolor alongside British and Yorkshire flags.
